Dia-Stron Limited is a manufacturing Company based in the town of Andover, which is about 70 miles west of London, England. In addition, we also have offices in the United States of America located just outside Philadelphia and distributors in many other countries.
The Company was started in the 1980's, primarily to serve the needs of skin research and dermatology. However there were several milestones which served to refocus our product line towards fibre testing and automation.
1989 the first small tensile tester incorporating PC based software, providing an easy to use, compact solution to single fibre testing.
1992 the development of an automated cassette based system for testing up to 100 fibres, a development rapidly taken up by most leading hair care companies to boost productivity.
1995 iintroduction of the fibre dimensional system (FDAS) to enable integration of essential cross sectional area data with tensile data.
2001 modular system introduced using common PC software and control unit.
2001 fully automated system for carbon fibre, incorporating dimensional and tensile measurements with sample transfer between measurement stations.
2001 Cyclic Tester for failure analysis introduced.
2003 development of the automated Fibre Bending System.
2005 automated contact angle measurement in collaboration with Krüss of Germany.
2008 introduction to the automated assembly station for efficient hair mounting.
2009 new measurement module to be launched.
The last 16 years has seen a transformation with fibre measurement and automation becoming the central pillars of the Company's business. Applications cover a wide range of fibres from hair to spider silk, cottons to other vegetable fibres, and a whole selection of man made fibres including carbon fibre, polyesters, Kevlar and many more.
